The common pheasant

It was introduced to Romania a very long time ago, before 1500 in western Transylvania and after 1900 in the south of the country. Now it can be considered a naturalized species, therefore self-propagating, in the whole area of plains, hills and low hills of the country. Its numbers are slightly declining, being affected by the presence of predators, cold winters and the mistake of hunting them, from time to time, as chickens.

In order to increase the density of free-range pheasants, regular popularization with baby pheasants from farms are still needed, which aims to preserve both the wild character of the breeders and the early adaptation of the pheasants to the conditions of freedom, so the babies can adapt perfectly to environmental conditions before the hunting season.

Hunting season: The hunting season lasts from October 1st to February 28th, and pheasant hunting is allowed with a hound dog, jumping and running, however the hunter prefer.
